Section 337 investigations at the ITC
Section 337 of the Tariff Act (19 U.S.C. § 1337) lets a patent owner ask the U.S. International Trade Commission to stop infringing imports. Investigations move fast, are tried before an administrative law judge, and end, when the patent owner wins, in exclusion orders enforced at the border and, often, cease and desist orders.
