How this page is made

  • Every figure comes from a firm’s own memo, as published, or contemporaneous reporting, and each year lists its sources. Where sources disagree, the footnote says so. Where no source states a figure, the table shows a dash: nothing is estimated or filled in.
  • The scale is the New York top-of-market rate. Class years count from law school graduation (1st year = the class that graduated the year before). A total adds the base in force at the end of the year and that year’s bonuses; it is not prorated for a mid-year raise.
  • Today’s dollars use the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index (CPI-U, U.S. city average), annual averages, to September 2026.
  • We check for new raises and bonus announcements every week; data last updated October 14, 2026.
